10:10 PM 11/12/2009 CastleVania III: Dracula's Curse THE PAGE!!! http://www.terriblehands.com/dctp Re: Battles Barely Perfect Addendum Heynow, kinfolk! I've been revising the Battles section for the past week or so; filling in long-standing blanks and improving its writing. I recently started to feel like the intro was becoming more about venting my distaste rather than actually /introducing/ the section. (Stay with me and you'll see what I mean.) Thus, as I have since cut it, here's how the first part of the revised intro originally ran, save for the few HTML moves (substituted with notations and front-slashes for italicizing). Enjoy! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . As you might know, the (first) title of this history-ridden section, (Dracula) Battles Barely Perfect, is a spoof of Konami's /Perfect Selection Dracula Battle/, a pair of CDs consisting of /OUTSTANDING/ rock renditions of CastleVania tunes up to 1994. Japan /really/ loves their games, so it's not uncommon for publishers to release a soundtrack or two alongside them. Sometimes, they'll even go so far as a remix or arrangement album! Sadly, we don't get it this good in The States. The Music Industry being what it is, the general opinion of game music is not as high as its opinion of, say, /those five songs/ looping at your local pop station. Simply put, if you enjoy videogame music, you're most likely a social outcast...and to the person who believes strongly in this idea, I've got a [CVIII Giant Owl GIF; ALT="BIRD!"] to flip you: videogame music is music, just like (heaven help us) that Rap* trash blaring from your telephone! PICK IT UP ALREADY! [Tiny Font] *If you ask me, Rap is where a guy's just going on and ON about nothing, whereas in Hip-Hop, clever storytelling over phat beats is usually involved. Interestingly, most of those beats are just as as short as the deathless videogame anthems we love so much... [/Tiny Font] . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . See what I mean? Thanks for reading. --Eric! P.S. BONUS TRACK: What /was/ being revised...? [Written c.10-9-2002] As you may or may not know, the title of this history-ridden section, Dracula Battles Barely Perfect, is a spoof of Konami's Perfect Selection Dracula Battle album, a CD series which consists of OUTSTANDING rock renditions of the best of CastleVania tunes, circa 1994. In Japan, game music is put on CD and often remixed that way, since game tunes are just frickin' awesome. Americans don't get it this good...that's because they prefer Nelly, O-Town, B.S. Boys, and assorted other inferior 'singers' who're destined to failure. ^_^ Listen to Eminem, Wu-Tang, M.O.P., and classical music instead, folks!
